Taiwan is an interesting place to find girls. In Taipei it’s easy as it is a metropolitan city. If you get into the smaller cities (which are growing due to the huge high technology industry there) your mongering becomes a bit more challenging. One thing to look out for are the barber poles. A barber pole (you know that spinning red and white thing that used to be outside of all barbershops) is usually an indication that a hair trim is not the only trim available there. Another thing to watch for is the betel nut girls. They sell the betel nut which is a mild narcotic that many truck drivers are addicted to. It seems that when the trade is tough, the marketing becomes very sexy. Sex sells and these girls are often down to wearing next to nothing to hawk their wares. Whether or not their other wares are for sale is unknown to me but it’s not much of a stretch to imagine that a betel nut girl might give you a BJ behind her counter. Some of them are certainly worth a visit to the shop to look at. Again, this may be an opportunity for a non-pro encounter. So if you see a betelnut girl you like, ask her out. Hotel Massage
Once again, forget about hotel massage unless you’re really looking for a great massage with no extras. The masseuses in Taiwan, like Korea are blind. No, really, they are blind! Again, they are excellent masseuses and there’s nothing wrong with ordering one in your room to relax and unwind after a long day at the office. Blind Taiwan masseuses are even worse looking than in Korea so I’m not recommending you try this option with the hope that a hot looking 20-year-old babe will show up.

Yellow Page Escort Services
This option is probably more reasonable in price than in Korea. This option is worth a try although it’s best to have a deal with the agency in case you see the girl and she’s butt ugly. A tip of about $20 to go away should do it. Always tell the agency what you want and let them know if the girl is not to your liking, you will send her away with cab fare.

Karaoke and KTV Places
This is also a target rich but fairly expensive way to find a girl for the night. These places are way more fun if you’re with a small group of co-workers and the tab is on the company. Do yourself a favor though. When you find the hostess girl you want, be discreet or it’ll be all over the office the next day. Ask her to meet you later at your hotel or offer to meet her after her shift is over. It may mean finding the place again (hopefully it’s not too far from your hotel) and making a late night of it. Leave her cab fare so she knows you’re serious. Also, find out if the girl you’re after is a local girl or if she’s an import on a visa. You’ll have much better luck if she’s on a short time visa from the Philippines or Thailand. Tip this girl discreetly and she’ll melt in your hands.

Internet Dating Sites
Taiwan is also one of those great places to plan ahead for by visiting sites like Asian Friend Finder (an off shoot of Adult Friend Finder) at www.aff.com Because Taiwan is a mixture of rich High Technology workers and poor working class families, you’ll have a better chance of finding a girl online that is looking for a relationship. Depending on her social status, she may or may not be up for a fling type relationship but it’s worth a try. There are other sites besides AFF and they’re always worth a try if you can find them in English (or your own language). Also, don’t forget to check MySpace, FaceBook, and Yahoo360 just in case there’s someone our there looking for the same thing as you are. Massage Parlors
Because it is generally illegal to offer more than massage at a massage parlor in Taiwan, these places are often hard to find. If you can read Chinese characters it will help but how many of us can? Like I said before, you’ll find plenty of places in Taipei and plenty of help if you need it. However, I enlisted the help of my friends on the World Sex Guide to help me with my quest in HsinChu, Taiwan. Because the laws are enforced and the police often patrol the internet looking for these places, you may find some people a bit reluctant to just spill all the information to you right away. You may need to develop a relationship on WSG by “private messaging” a couple of times back and forth and possibly exchanging real email addresses. Be patient. If someone had offered to help and is asking for some particulars about you, answer what you’re comfortable with and know it’s OK and expected that you also want anonymity there. I was able to find a place not too far from my hotel this way. I was unsuccessful the first night of trying because I needed more specific directions. Thanks to XXX I left HsinChu a happy man! There is a place not too far from the hotel where I stayed (walking distance). If it weren't for explicit directions I would never have found it. I actually visited twice while I was there.

The rate is 2000NT and you pay when you are finished. There was no line up of girls but the advice from XXX helped me to get just what I wanted. I went upstairs to a room and took a shower. 5 Tips for Successful Mongering in Taiwan:

1) Because of the language barrier and non-phonetic signage in Taiwan, it is important to make some connections there ahead of time. The World Sex Guide is great for this. Be prepared to wait a few days for responses to questions so this is not the thing to do when you get there and are sitting alone in your hotel room. I’ve found that the forum participants in Taiwan are careful but ultimately helpful. Need to find a massage parlor with a little more on the menu? This is the place to start.
2) Developing a relationship (over some time) with a non-pro is always a good plan. Even if you use this as a back-up plan, its worth trying. I have found that the girls on Adult Friend Finder or Asian Friend Finder are primarily looking for long-term romance. However, if you’re not averse to a few little white lies, you might enjoy some real romance in Taiwan this way.
3) Dating on the fly is not out of the question. I place Taiwan somewhere between Korea and the Philippines when it comes to dating girls. Some will come from poorer families and be ready and willing to date a foreigner and others may have those high maintenance tendencies. Nothing wrong with them. It’ll just take a bit more effort and a lot more money to impress.
4) Find a good massage parlor or “barbershop” where you can receive more than just the services advertised. This may require you to talk with a bell boy or valet to locate an establishment. Using the term “barbershop” will alert the guy you’re talking to that you’re looking for some extra services.
5) If you’re having no luck at all, by all means call an escort service. Remember what I’ve said about telling them exactly what you want and alerting them to the fact that you will send the girl away if she’s a dog. Be nice about it though.
